Welcome to West Haven, Connecticut, a city full of smiles and fun. The city has 3 and a half miles of publicly accessible beaches, which is one-quarter of the publicly accessible beaches in Connecticut. Painter Parks provides accessible picnic area, tennis, basketball, soccer, baseball, football, and summer camps for the community.
There are hundreds of local businesses in West Haven. Whether you are looking for fine restaurants, doctors, lawyers, or automotive center, the city has it. West Haven is a lively city full of flavor. Some of the best places to eat includes Jimmies, Captain's Galley, and Chicks. Ofcourse, these are just three among the many other food places in our city.
West Haven is home to the University of New Haven, with whom the famous Dr. Henry Lee resides. The other major educational institutions include the West Haven Highschool and Notre Dame Highschool, a Roman Catholic all-boys school. The West Haven High School football team was ranked first in the state and fifth in the nation in 1968. Both the West Haven highschool and Notre Dame highschool have a strong tradition in sports and education. Many of it's top students have gone on to Yale, MIT, Brown, and other prestigious institutions. During the football season, both highschools are geared up and ready for one another. It doesn't matter if one team had a loosing season, just as long as the other is defeated in a match of determination and will.

There are also many excellent elementary and middle schools throughout the city. As an alumni to Thompson Elementary School, Forest Elementary School, Carrigan Middle School, and West Haven High school, I can attest to a strong school system. What makes it so strong are the many committed teachers and administrative staff. When our family were struggling, I had a teacher came over our house to offer assistance. Many teachers are hands on with their students. I applaud the hard work of West Haven teachers for continuing to strive for excellence.
West Haven is home to the U.S. Veterans Affairs hospital, and Yale Field, a baseball park for the Yale University teams and formerly the homefield for Minor League baseball teams. The Yale Bowl, where the football team hosts contests, sits on the border of New Haven and West Haven.
WestHaven.com is an independent web site with no connection to any governmental authority. It is run by the Searth family. We have been a resident of the city for 23 years. We love all the local businesses throughout the city. Heavy yellowbooks are cubersome, especially when you had to sift through all those pages. As a result, we decided to build Westhaven.com into a business directory. All local businesses are listed for free in our "basic" listing. We have an estimated traffic of 30 to 45 unique visits a day. Visitors will increase over time. That's direct navigation traffic. What does that mean? It means people are typing in the domain, looking for something(potential customer) in the city. It's like 40 people a day looking at your business. We charge a small fee for premium listings. Advertising space are available throughout the site. Please contact us for rates.
